The makers, neighbors, and everyday doers making Springfield feel like home. A closer look at what they do, why they care, and how you can be part of it.
Parkview grad. Dog person. Always looking for a new trail.
I’m Kevin Bedwell, the person behind NOW SGF. I graduated from Parkview High School, and I’m just a guy who’s a little obsessed with his dog. I love finding trails and things to do with my pup—especially places we haven’t explored yet.
That curiosity is what I want to bring here: a reason to get outside, try something different, and get to know Springfield a little better.
You don’t need a big following or a fancy title to have a story worth telling. Help us find the people making everyday life here more interesting, welcoming, or fun.
01 / THE CONNECTORS
The one who brings people together.
A walking group, a neighborhood gathering, a shared garden. Who makes it easier to show up and feel welcome?
02 / THE MAKERS
The one making something their own.
An artist, a cook, a small-business owner, a hobbyist with a story. Who is putting something thoughtful into the world?
03 / THE EVERYDAY GOOD
The one who quietly shows up.
A volunteer, a helpful neighbor, the person who keeps a good thing going. Whose work deserves a little more attention?
Someone come to mind?
Email their name, what they do, and why you think we should meet them. You can nominate yourself, too. A public link is helpful; please ask before sharing someone’s private contact details.
We’re starting with our founder’s story. Next, we want to meet the people behind the places and projects you love. Nominations are editorial leads, not paid placements or a promise of coverage.
Behind every good local story
A face. A place. A reason to care.
People of NOW starts with a conversation. We want to visit people where they make, work, volunteer, or gather—and let them tell us what keeps them going.
THE PERSON
How did you get here?
The path, the unexpected turn, the connection to Springfield. There’s more to someone than a job title.
THE PURPOSE
What keeps you showing up?
The care behind a craft, a small business, a neighborhood project, or a simple act that makes a difference.
THE INVITATION
How can we join in?
A place to visit, work to discover, or a way to help—with practical details checked before we share them.
