Saturday, October 31, is the last scheduled night for Springfield’s Hotel of Terror. The other haunted house across the street, Dungeons of Doom, will stay, Jordan and Parker Mathis told KY3.
Their father, Sterling Mathis, agreed to sell the Hotel of Terror property to Springfield for $2 million. The city told KY3 it needs the property to replace a century-old bridge as part of the Renew Jordan Creek flood-control project. For the brothers, the sale means watching a place their father spent 48 years building close its doors.
KY3 reported that the final night was scheduled to run from 6:30 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday.
